EA announced a new skate in 2020 and set up Full Circle, a studio in Burnaby, British Columbia, staffed partly by people who made the original games. skate. launched in early access on September 16, 2025. It’s free-to-play, set in San Vansterdam, and has cross-platform multiplayer. It’s also the first skate game on PC.

Why it isn’t moddable

  • Kernel anti-cheat. skate. uses EA’s Javelin anti-cheat. It blocks tampering, and it’s also why the game doesn’t run on Steam Deck or Linux.
  • Online-only Frostbite. The community Frostbite Modding Tool lists skate. as unsupported and online-only. There’s no offline mode to load mods into.
  • Live-service terms. Changing the client puts your account at risk. skatemods won’t host mods that touch the live game.

What you can do

Recreate, don’t inject. Spot and park layouts from San Vansterdam are fair inspiration for maps in moddable games. One community pipeline brings skate. map geometry into Skate 3 (Isle of Grom). Those maps go through the same conversion as any other Skate 3 map.
