Skater XL entered early access on PC on December 19, 2018 and fully launched on July 28, 2020 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, with Switch after. It uses a two-stick control scheme: each stick is one foot.
Built for maps
Easy Day leaned into community content early. Community-made levels shipped with the console release, and Skater XL was one of the first games to support user mods on Nintendo Switch. Today mod.io is the central hub: real-world spot recreations, original parks, gear, and script mods. Game updates that changed lighting have broken maps before, and mappers fixed and re-released them.
Multiplayer came from modders
Before official multiplayer existed, silentbaws’ XLMultiplayer mod let people skate together, with replay support. When Easy Day released free official multiplayer for up to 10 players, XLMultiplayer was retired at the end of May 2021.
